Building services engineering contractor Sheridan & Hood is celebrating 45 years in business, and to mark the milestone has invested over £300,000 in new 6,000sqft premises in Tamar Street, Belfast.

Since 1968, Sheridan & Hood, which employs 50 people, has played an important part in mechanical and electrical engineering within the construction industry. In 2000, the company diversified its offering by launching a new pre-packaged plant room and biomass boiler manufacturing division, BS Holdings, and it is the growth and development of this side of the business which has prompted the organisation to invest £300,000 in developing this site, a former tram depot, which features expanded production facilities.

Speaking about the investment, Managing Director Brian Hood said, “There has been considerable interest in our pre-packaged plant rooms in recent years by retail giants including Tesco in the UK and Ireland. More recently our biomass boiler manufacturing business has really taken off, and the move to larger premises is giving us the space we need to meet the demands of the manufacturing side of our business. Based on the current interest in our products, our plan is double the workforce within the next 24 months.
